Squares and scraps

As we've been going forward I've been consulting with the Liberated Quiltmaking book. I love the notion of sewing scraps together & you can see that I kind of went nuts doing it. I started off with the square within a square using the hand cut square for a less severe look. Then, I needed spacers which is when I really got into the scrap business.

I had thought that just adding onto one side would look ok, but I was mistaken and so put more scraps on the other side for balance. I think the next round should help unify this, or I hope so!

Round 2 Squares

Oops - I didn't post in order!

I went crazy making these squares. The idea was a square within a square and then it wasn't a good fit so I started just channelling Gwen and sewing scraps together. I really got into it! The new "fabric" I made was gorgeous. I also love the asymmetry.

I am constantly inspired by other members of this group and am loving the results of this exposure. Thanks to all!

Rectangles = Letters!

I am becoming SO liberated! I had never even considered letters on a quilt but I am so inspired by everyone here and so made my rectangle "row" about letters.

This is all so timely. I am making this quilt just for me and have a lot of bicycling imagery as I love bicycling and do it a lot. Just at the time I decided to catch up with everyone else I found my new bike - it's pink!! I have not had a brand new bicycle since I was a kid. My current bike is 15 years old. It works but new bikes have EVOLVED! I am so excited about this bike that I am dreaming about it. So my dreams leaked out and onto the quilt!

My goal is to be caught up with the challenge before the next round is announced. My piece is now 43" square.

Triangles added

I like my first block but it is a tad too busy or maybe way too busy so I chose to calm it with the solid blue but carried forward the bike fabric. I like it! I like everyone else's too!

Cycling in the Center

I'm late to the party but super enthusiastic. This is the challenge I've been looking for!

I'm going with the 50's turquoise/pink/black pallette and fabrics that feature a few of my favorite things - first among them bicycles! I just got this bike fabric from Aunt June on Etsy - the yellow? Isn't it adorable?

Loving everyone's start. Now I can look at part two & see where everyone else is going.
