Since June asked...

This is the back of my LRR

I had ordered the yellow online last spring and when it arrived I couldn't use it as planned and besides I didn't like it and it moved into my stash. But now I was pleased to find,  here it fits perfectly. So hurray to a good stash :-)

And thank you for all the nice comments !

LibRR 1 - a finish

Hi,
I finally finished LRR1 and I like it . It's mostly machine quilted, but I outlined the circles and triangles by hand.

It's called 'Red Dot'... maybe you find the explanation on this quilt ;-)

As I have too many UFO's , I didn't joint this round, but I can see, how much fun you have !

Colours of Life

Didn't finish it as it was getting too big to do squiggles.

It was my Mother's 80th birthday party last week. I was going back to the UK for it and needed something to give her.

She's been on at me for ages to make her a lap quilt to keep her knees warm so I pulled this out, took a deep breath and machine quilted it. Just straight lines, using 1" masking tape as a guide. Not bad for a first attempt!

Finished size approx 48" by 46".

Funny You Should Ask!

I just finished my quilt, binding and all.  I learned so much doing this quilt, doing things I have never done before.   Circles.  Letters.  Raw Edge Applique.  Machine Quilting. Mixed Media.  Throwing out all the rules I ever learned.  I just plain had fun.  It came out a little wavy, but who's to say wavy isn't good.  My husband asked me what it's name was.  I said my first "No Name" quilt, but in reality it would be the "Learning Curve Quilt".  Thanks for including me....What's next?

So Where Are The Liberated Round Robin Participants?

I keep checking back and nothing has been posted for such a long time!!  Are you giving up?  Where are your progress reports?  Come on feed my curiosity!!!

Thanks!
Love, Pat--who has finished and given hers away.  See my post here:

Working on Phase 6

Finished picture after binding is completed.  Not much difference in the picture.  10/10/11
9/14  Quilting completed and ready for binding.

I've been slowly progressing towards a finish. My sis called the other day and needed a quilt for a wedding gift and wanted one of mine.  So, we decided on my Liberated Challenge quilt.  I've been very frustrated with making feathers.  They just looked too rounded or tight or something.  I've studied Patsy Thompson's feathers and I've got a DVD by the Pajama Quilter.  I've been practicing since then.  I won't show you my garbage can of practices but I hit on what my troubles may have stemmed from.  I was making my "loops" from the top.  When I started them from the bottom and worked up, they became more the style I was working towards.  Here's a sample of my practice next to my actual work on the quilt.

And then a close-up of the actual quilt.

It may be a couple of days before I can work on the completion of my quilt, but with someone expecting it.  I'll get it done.  Maybe even next week!

LibRR1 Round 6: Ready to Use or Give Away

Change your project into a quilt!  Make the sandwich and join it together and close it up!

Let us know what is going to happen to your project once it is completed!

Take pictures and share!

Round 6 is added so you can show your project after it's quilted, bound, and ready to use or give away!

(I misread the notes - this was supposed to be the ending step after embellishing and finishing up - June)

Me and You: True Blue -- all finished!

Free Motion Quilting : done
Binding: done
Label on back: done
Hanging strip:done
Photos: done

So that's it!! My RR quilt is finished, ready to give to my friend when she arrives September 8. What an interesting project to start out not knowing more than that I would use the blue fabrics I had on hand. I liked the idea from Gwen and Freddy of 2 chickens representing them and their freindship. I actually made a few of Freddy's Chickens but did not like the fussiness of piecing them. So I just free-handed my own chickens, which turned into a couple of sassy wonky birds instead! Thanks, June and Nancie, for putting the RR together, keeping it all organized, and for your support along the way. It's been fun and I've got a quilt to give my friend as a bonus! Mary

Casa Loma -- all finished

This piece just seemed quite complete with rectangles and squares so I added a black binding to frame it, signed it on the back, and called it finished. The real truth is that I couldn't wait to give it to my friends! They are delighted with it, and I had a great time making it. This is my first try with using raw edge applique and I really like what I can with that! And I've time to start a whole new RR!!  Mary in Panama
